Deputy Sheriff Wolborg’s Finest Hour (Hyper Aggro Tests Day 4)

(SPOILER: It’s not as exciting as it sounds.)
Well, we really are scraping the bottom of the barrel now for this hyper aggro smash AR candidate testing, but last night was actually slightly better than the day before.

As usual, attack combo is:

AR: Variable
WD: Ten Wide (my heavy one)
SG: Right SG (Bearing Version 2)
SG Tip: SG Grip Change Base Tip
SP: Defense Ring
BB: Customize Bearing Base

All were tested against the compact/weight defense hybrid:
AR: Tiger Defenser
WD: Ten Heavy
SG: Neo Right SG (HMC)
SP: Defense Ring
BB: Customize Metal Change Base

And I used a Metal Ball Base compact against most of them too because my launch was really inconsistent today, so it helped to determine what was definitely not going to work.

AR: Tiger Defenser
WD: Ten Heavy
BB: Metal Ball Base (4 Balls)

Of course, that inconsistency means I’m not going to confirm anything as list-worthy based on the night’s work, but that was enough to weed out the junk ones.

Anyway, here we go. Everything is right spin.

Gyro Defense (Bearing Gyros Magical Barancer): Heh… Barancer… Anyways, Gyro Defense actually did okay – too much recoil for other bases I think (will check sometime in the next couple of days), and the shape of its top still causes it to get knocked over faster than other AR’s would, but it actually did pretty decently. However, the protrusions that are providing that smash attack power with range are quite thin and thus will suffer from quick wear. Will give it another shot today but don’t think it’ll be good enough to make the list.

I also retried it for zombies and yes, it is still tier two-ish and has the problem I identified ages ago. So yes it remains the most overrated part in plastics. Woop.

Strike Turtle (Draciel V2): It hit hard a couple of times, suffered incredible recoil a couple of times, but most of the time it didn’t do anything of note – it’s just an outclassed smash attack AR, no change from when I tested it ages ago.

Upper Wolf (Wolborg 2): Still just a tier 2-3 smash AR and nothing more – did execute a sweet upper attack on the metal ball base combo at one point – and then proceeded to lose the round by OS anyway.

Star Wolf (Wolborg 4): The Deputy actually didn’t do badly – now there’s a sequence of keys I never thought these fingers would hit. It does suffer from some serious recoil but it also managed to land some real hard hits and has plenty of range. So yes, Star Wolf finally did not-terrible at something – truly its finest hour. Jokes aside, I’ll definitely be retesting this today as a serious candidate for the list, which scares me slightly.

Eight Spike (Draciel F): Three things in life are certain, death, taxes, and Eight Spike being a useless piece of junk. Fair amount of recoil and no impact on opponents. Ahhh, sweet predictability.

Panther Head (Flash Leopard 2): It did very little except fly backwards a lot sometimes. So yeah, stick to left spin.

War Bear + War Lion SAR (Galzzly, Galeon): Did land a couple of decent hits with a fair bit of recoil but overall did very little of note.

Neo Cross Horn (Uriel 2): Neo Cross Horn worked. In fact, it seemed to work very well – which is a shame because there’s no way you could use it for an entire tournament without it crumbling into illegality (or just plain breaking). Just look at what happened to mine after a few matches:

Gold Plastic Syndrome

Fun Fact: Knight Claws Ring (The Attack Ring and only non-generic part of both Knight Dranzer and Master Driger) was released in at least 13 different colours by Takara, along with another two by Hasbro.

It still stays on securely so I’ll try to give it another shot today to see if it deserves a spot, though I have to try it in left first, so I don’t know if that will be possible. At this point, worst case is it goes to plastics heaven alongside everything except for its slightly chipped SG Core, one chipped but still intact SP, and the heavily worn tip.
If it does work, it’s probably worth investigating the possibility of hasbro’s being slightly more resilient.

Anyway, that’s all the testing for that night, got a tonne of stuff I want to test today, and some other stuff to do, so I best get to work, haha.
